FORMULATION
Each film coated tablet contains: Piracetam BP 1.2g, Excipients q.s

INDICATION
In Adults
Treatment of Post-stroke sequelae, i.e. asphasia
Symptomatic treatment of the psycho-organic syndrome whose features, improved by treatment, are memory loss, attention disorders and lack of drive.
Treatment of cortical myoclonus, alone or in combination.(
Treatment of vertigo and associated disorders of balnce, with the exception of dizziness of casomotor or psychic origin.
In Children
Treatment of dyslexia, in combination with appropriate measures such as speech therapy


DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
The duration of treatment depends on the patient’s clinical status. -Chronic vertigo:2.4g 4.8g per day.

CONTRAINDICATION
Hypersensitivity to Piracetam (Picetam) or other pyrolidone derivates or any of the excipients. Piracetam is contraindicated in:
patients with cerebral hemorrhage
in End Stage Renal Disease patients.
Piracetam should not be used in patients suffering from Hunlington’s Chorea. Pregnancy and Lactation: The safety of using this product during pregnancy has not been sufficiently established. Although studies in animals have not shown teratogenic effects or on fertility, using this drug during pregnancy is not recommended except under a doctor’s strict supervision and only when the benefits justify possible risks. Likewise, breastfeeding is not recommended.

PRECAUTION
Due to the effect of Piracetam (Picetam) on platelet aggregation, caution is recommended in patients with underlying disorders of haemostasis, major or severe hemorrhage. Abruptdiscontinuation of treatments should be avoided in myoclonic patients as this may induce sudden relapse or withdrawal seizures. As Piracetam is almost exclusively eliminated by the kidney, precautions should be taken when treating suffering from renal insufficiency and in whom the excretion of creatinine is dependent on age

ADVERSE REACTION
The following adverse experiences were reported for Piracetam
Gastrointestinal disorders: abdominal pain, abdominal pain upper, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting
Immune System disorders: anaphylactoid reaction, hypersensitivity
Nervous System Disorders: ataxia, balance impaired, epilepsy aggravated, headache, insomnia, somnolence
Psychiatric Disorders: agitation, anxiety, confusion, hallucination
Skin and subcutaneous disorders: angioneurotic edema dermatitis, pruritus, urticaria. Rare cases of injection site pain, thromophlebitis, pyrexia or hypotension have been reported.

AVAILABILITY
Pirecetam (Picetam) is available in 10 blister strips containing 10 film-coated tablets packed in printed duplex carton. Box of 100’s.

STORAGE
Store at temperatures not exceeding 30° C.
